About Me
About me
I am originally from Mumbai, India and have been living in the US for the past decade. I work in the IT industry full-time and explore and travel during my free-time. Tales of Two Wheels is my digital diary where I record my journeys and experiences to inspire and encourage more people to travel by way of a motorcycle.
I used to ride my dad’s Vespa occasionally but it never turned into anything serious until I came to the US. I fell in love with supersports. But, I would wonder: “Was a motorcycle safe? Especially when riding on the freeway at high speeds, with so much traffic around me?”
I started reading everything I could to answer my questions. The different types of motorcycles, riding styles, pricing, maintenance costs, riding in rain and cold, gear, safety, skills needed of the rider… Then I stumbled upon the Motorcycle Foundation Course (MSF). It’s a two and a half day class taking place on weekends. It includes a classroom session and a field day where you get to ride motorcycles and complete maneuvers. Finally, there’s a knowledge test and practical test. So, I signed up for the course, passed my exam, got my endorsement and bought my first motorcycle – The Yamaha VStar 650.
My first motorcycle was a cruiser (Yamaha VStar 650), the second was a super sport (Kawasaki Zx-6R) and currently I am on my third motorcycle (Yamaha Super tenere xt1200). I have put around 32k-35k miles on each motorcycle and have racked up around 100k miles in the past 7 years.
I was never a racer but always a tourer. Now I ride multi-day long distances and I love it.
Hope you will enjoy reading and watching my riding experiences!
